Dear Family,

As most of you know, this Sunday morning in our worship service we will celebrate the Lord’s goodness to us by dedicating our new building to him. In preparation for that event, there is some work to be done that many hands would make light. Therefore, Saturday afternoon at 4 I would appreciate any who are available to join me at FBC to accomplish some final tasks, pass out invitations in nearby neighborhoods and pray together.

Following our service on Sunday, we will enjoy a meal together. FBC will provide the main course (bbq) and tableware. If families with last names beginning with A-L will bring a dessert and a side dish and families beginning with M-Z will bring two side dishes we should have plenty to eat. Please bring generous portions so that we can accommodate any visitors the Lord might bring to us. Also if each family could provide their own drinks and a few extra that would be helpful.

When inviting friends, please note that our worship service will begin at 10:30.

Dear Family,

This Friday afternoon, 8/19 sometime between 3-5 PM a truck carrying our new chairs will arrive at our Husky Way property. They will be boxed in stacks of 12 chairs and will need to be taken off the truck, unwrapped and hand-trucked into the nursery of our building. The stacks are quite heavy and I could use some folks to help, especially with the unloading. I am not sure yet of a more specific arrival time for the truck and will not likely hear further until it is only a few hours out. I realize this is not a convenient time for most of you but if anyone is available to help I will be grateful. You can use the contact us page to let me know if you can come and then I can be sure to let you know a more specific time when I hear of one. Otherwise I will post again when I know what time the truck will arrive.

Dear Family,

As a reminder, tomorrow morning, May 22 and also June 5 Family Bible Church will be meeting at Stringtown Elementary School for worship at 9 AM. I apologize for any confusion as a result of our moving around so much. Perhaps the Lord wants to remind us that we are sojourners here and that our only permanent home is in our Father’s house where Jesus is now preparing a place for us. In the meantime, others are still preparing a place for us to gather and worship on Husky Way, but it is not quite finished yet.

We have an opportunity to serve at North High School this Thursday by providing a meal for the cast and crew of the Fall Play, “Fame.” Kristy Hansen is preparing Bbq baked potatoes and will have the meat and potatoes already prepared. We can provide other toppings, fruit or sides, water and plates/tableware. If you would like to provide some of these, please contact Kristy. If you would like to help serve the meal, please join us at 4 PM at the entrance to the North auditorium. Come in the main entrance and continue down the main hall all the way to the back.

Dear Family,

Since we have heard the Supreme Court’s decision legalizing Gay Marriage in all 50 states I commend to you Pastor Kevin DeYoung’s blog post this morning. It provides a steadying reminder to which I would like to add the following:

This issue has always been about authority. Either we believe the Bible or we don’t. If we say that we do, we must allow the Bible to shape what we think about this and all other issues in which we find ourselves in the uncomfortable position of directly opposing the tide of public opinion.

Please let us retain our composure. This is no time for crying like Chicken Little “The sky is falling!”–the sky was already fallen like the rest of creation. The world into which the gospel was born and in which it flourished was already darker than ours is today. The decadent moral culture of the 1st century provided the stark contrast that made the gospel beautiful and the fertile soil of brokenness for it to take root. This could be the church’s finest hour but do not expect to be loved by the world.
