Last call for FBC Adult Winter Retreat

Dear Family,

I know we said in a previous post that the deadline for signing up for our FBC Adult Winter Retreat was Feb.23, but we need to let the New Harmony Inn know our count earlier than that. Here again is the basic information about the retreat:

I hope you will consider joining other FBC adults for an overnight retreat at New Harmony Inn, Friday evening through Saturday lunch Feb. 27-28.

We have 15 rooms reserved at the inn (nice, with either a fireplace or a balcony) plus a conference room for our activities together. The inn will provide continental breakfast and cater our lunch on Saturday. We will pay through FBC so as to save on taxes. Cost per room is $100. Cost for lunch is $10 per person. Payment can be made to FBC, please mark “FBC Retreat” on check memo line.

Activities will begin at 7:30 PM Friday night in the conference room at the Inn. We will enjoy snacks, games and fun with friends Friday night. Saturday we will have a morning devotional and prayer time, have some fun together and there will be an open forum time to discuss ideas for using our new church facility. We will wrap things up after lunch on Saturday. If you cannot make it to New Harmony until later Friday evening, that is fine, come when you can. If you cannot join us until Saturday morning, we plan to begin our activities together at 9 AM. If your spouse cannot make it and you wish to come by yourself, please do so!

We passed around a signup sheet last Sunday but it did not make it all the way around the room so we would like all families to respond and let us know your intentions using the “Contact Us” form on our website here. It will ask for your name and email address, please provide us with one of the following in the “Prayer request or other message” box by Friday morning.

I/we can come for the duration of the retreat.

I/we can come Friday night only.

I/we can come Saturday only.

I/we cannot come at all.

I/we am still checking and will get back with Colin by Friday noon.

Make sure you hit the “submit” button at the bottom. Thanks for helping us make arrangements,

Pastor Colin

Women’s Hearts at Home Conference

Hello FBC Ladies,

I want to remind you about the Hearts at Home Conference coming up March 13-14 in Normal, IL. FBC plans to take a group again this year, leaving Evansville about 2 PM Friday. We will check in for the conference on arrival, attend the “Mom’s Night Out” with comedian Ken Davis and attend keynote sessions with Gary Chapman and Lisa Terkeurst and other workshops on Saturday. We will leave after the workshops and arrive back in Evansville Saturday mid-evening.

It’s a great conference and a wonderful opportunity to get to know other FBC ladies. If you would like to go, you will need to register online at HeartsatHome.org. Please register for the “One-day Conference Registration” for Saturday ($98 if you register before Feb.18, $128 after Feb.18). Saturday lunch is included with registration fee. Also, please register for the “Mom’s Night Out” add-on (an additional $15, but the laughs are worth it!). You can register for this in the process of registration for the Saturday conference. Registering as soon as possible will save you money and help in making travel and lodging arrangements.

Once you have registered, contact us and Lisa Megal will get in touch with you to make lodging arrangements and coordinate travel. She has reserved 4 hotel rooms in Normal for us. The lodging cost per person will either be $73 for a two person room or $43 for a three person room. She may be able to get further cost breaks in the coming weeks.

Hope you can come!

FBC Christmas Events

Dear Family,

I hope this Advent affords you enough peace to be amazed once again that the eternal Word of God became flesh in a tiny baby born to a teenage girl in a dirty animal stable. May our amazement draw us together in worship this season.

Here are a few details concerning FBC’s schedule for the next two weeks:

  • Sunday worship services for 12/14 and 12/21 will be at Cambridge at 9:00 A.M. In addition, we will be holding a Christmas Eve service at 5 P.M. at Cambridge.
  • This Sunday, 12/14, the high school students and leaders will meet at the Grimm’s at 4:00 P.M. for a Christmas party. Please bring a gift for our bad Santa gift exchange–could be something you don’t want, but someone else might! Extra points for those attired in ugly Christmas sweaters.
  • Also this Sunday, 12/14, the Kerrs will host an FBC Christmas open house. Please join us any time between 6-8 P.M. for food and friendship. If you would like to come please contact us and let us know how many will be in your party by Saturday evening to help us prepare.

Thanks and see you Sunday,

Pastor Colin

Worship at Stringtown and Annual Members Business Meeting tomorrow!

Dear Family,

As a reminder, Family Bible Church will be worshipping at Stringtown Elementary School tomorrow at 9 A.M. Please enter the parking lot from Mill Road.

Following our worship service, we will hold our Annual Members Business Meeting. I ask that all members make every effort to attend as we have several crucial matters to discuss and vote upon. I have attached our Annual business mtg agenda 2014 so you can see what these matters are. Please come because your absence effectively means that you are casting your vote against anything we vote on (which is one of the matters we will be addressing).

See you tomorrow,

Pastor Colin

Service Projects Tomorrow 11/16

Dear Family,

As a reminder, Family Bible Church will be serving tomorrow afternoon by raking leaves for a lady in our community and preparing boxes to send to needy children through Operation Christmas Child.

The OCC team will meet at 4307 North Green River Rd. at 2 PM to pack the boxes. Boxes have already been purchased, but you will need to supply the contents. You can get instructions on what to include and download a packing label for a girl or boy (or both) here or print these instructions. Please include a $7 cash donation with each box.

The leaf raking team will meet at Highland Elementary School, 6701 Darmstadt Rd. at 2 PM to coordinate rides and vehicles to the project site nearby–parking is limited at the home we will be serving and we need to get some trailers in there. Please dress warm and bring rakes, blowers, etc.

If you have not signed for either project, you are welcome to participate, just show up prepared with supplies at either site.

See you tomorrow at worship,

Pastor Colin

Let’s Help the Lovell’s Move

Hello Family,

The Lovell’s are moving this Saturday–thankfully, just around the corner! They serve our church family in many ways and this is a great opportunity for us to bless them by helping them move. If you are able to help, meet at their house: 349 Sterchi Dr. at 9 AM this Saturday, Nov.8. Please come even if you can only stay for a little while.

Thanks for your help,

Pastor Colin
