High School Zoom Call

This Sunday (4/26) at 6:30 pm we will have a high school Zoom call! Here is the information to join the meeting.

https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85981118585

Meeting ID: 859 8111 8585

John will share a devotion and we’ll play a game. The game requires the use of another device that has internet connection. That may be a laptop, tablet, or smartphone.

One device will connect to the zoom call and the other will be used to access a free online game sight. Siblings can share a device for the game if more than one person joins per household. If finding another device to use is a problem, then let me know and we can figure out a different game.

Hope you will join!

Rescue Mission Meal Supplies

Jesus once taught to those who cared for others, “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me” (Mt 25:40).

Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the Evansville Rescue Mission has been serving over 1,000 meals a week and needs help from the community to restock certain supplies to continue with the meals. What an opportunity we have to serve Jesus by serving others who are in need!

Here are the supplies requested:

  • styrofoam clam shell containers
  • small brown/white paper bags
  • plastic utensil packs (fork, spoon, knife, salt & pepper, napkin)

If anyone would like to buy supplies, then please bring them to the church building by next Wednesday (4/29). We will organize a pick-up time for the Rescue Mission to receive all the supplies gathered. Call John (812-550-4077) ahead of time to be sure someone is at the church for you to drop off supplies.

It is our joy to care for others, because serving those in need is serving our Savior. Please consider buying supplies and contact us if you have any questions.

Wednesday Night Worship

Join us for a night of worship on the Facebook page at 8pm tonight. Colton will again lead us in song and Scripture reading. It will last 30-45 minutes. You are welcome to watch and participate for the whole thing or check in for any part of it.

Prayer Requests

Dear Family,

We love and are praying for you. As a reminder to the announcement during the church service this past Sunday, we are eager to hear any and all prayer requests. Praying for the people is a chief concern to the leadership of the church.

Like many other faithful men and women in the faith before us, we hope to devote ourselves to prayer for others, especially our family in Christ. Knowing what to pray for would be a significant help.

Whether seemingly big or small, please send prayer requests to the church email (evansvillefbc@gmail.com). Surely no concern is too great or insignificant to bring before the Lord.

Use the time during announcements each church service as a weekly reminder to have at least one person per household send in the family’s praises or requests via email. Of course, you can send in prayer requests at any time.

Grace and Peace,

John

Book Recommendation in the Coronavirus Pandemic

Family,

A few individuals from the church had planned to attend the Together for the Gospel (T4G) Conference in Louisville, Kentucky this month. Because of the spread of the Coronavirus, the conference, along with just about every other event this Spring, was cancelled. Pastor John Piper, one of the planned speakers, took the available time to write a book titled, Coronavirus and Christ.

Both the audiobook and ebook are free of charge on the Desiring God website.

According to Piper, the book offers a brief (2 hour audiobook) study on “the God who reigns over the Coronavirus” and addresses the question, “what is God doing through the Coronavirus?”

We encourage all to take advantage of the free resource and pray that it be beneficial to your souls in this trying time.

Good Friday Service

This Friday at 7pm we will live stream a Good Friday service on the church’s Facebook page. Even though we are not gathering, we will take communion together. That means each family will need to provide their own elements, so be sure to have the juice and bread ready! As always, we encourage everyone to continue the comments on the stream as a way to communicate with one another.

Wednesday Worship

Dear Family,

As announced on Sunday, we have a new way to worship together online midweek. Colton Potter will lead worship on a live stream from our Facebook page on Wednesdays at 8pm starting tomorrow. He will lead in singing about 6 songs and reading Scripture. The lyrics for the songs are attached here. You can pull the lyrics up on a separate screen or print them out beforehand. The stream will usually last 30-45 minutes. We look forward to taking advantage of this opportunity and others to worship together in this time.
