A Tough Call

Dear Family,

What seemed a very difficult decision to make at the time turned out to be a no-brainer. At 4:15PM today I thought a smallish thunderstorm might pass quickly and leave a window in the weather for us to hold the Runner’s Camp track meet. I left the church as the rain started and planned to pick up a few items at home on the way to open the stadium. 10 minutes later I missed the turn onto Hillsdale Rd. because it was raining so hard I couldn’t see it. By 4:45 I was starting to get messages from volunteers who were having to turn around on the way to the stadium because of flooded roads. It became clear that I needed to cancel the track meet. As it turned out, I wouldn’t have gotten there anyway because our neighborhood roads were impassable from the flooding for over an hour.

I hated making the decision to cancel. The track meet is always a highlight and provides a great way to close out camp. It was still a great week. As always, I was so pleased by the service of our volunteer team. Thank you for your hard work and your great attitudes.

However, we still have a fair amount of equipment at Central Stadium that needs to be hauled back to the church and put away. If you can help, please meet at Central at 10 AM Saturday morning.

I am so grateful to God for all of you,

Pastor Colin
