Happy Reformation Day!

Dear Family,

In light of our recent series on the Five Solas of the Protestant Reformation, this post by Stephen Nichols gives an interesting summary of the event that triggered the Reformation. Since today is the 499th anniversary of that event, it seemed good to me to bring it to your attention.

Ecclesia semper reformanda (the church, including ours, is always to be reformed),

Let’s picnic this Sunday!

Dear FBC Family,

Let’s take advantage of our nice fall weather (while we have it) and enjoy a picnic lunch together at the 4 H Center playground this Sunday after church, call it 11:30. This will be a b.y.o.lunch) meal–either bring something from home or grab something for your family after church before heading over to the park. There are some picnic tables there but it would be a good idea to bring some lawn chairs. Feel free to bring whatever lawn games you wish.

We will forego our Middle School and High School gatherings Sunday night with various folks being out of town.

See you Sunday,

Pastor Colin

Worship at Stringtown Sunday 7/10

Dear Family,

This Sunday, 7/10 Family Bible Church will be holding our worship service at Stringtown Elementary School at our usual time, 9 A.M. We will return to Cambridge the following weekend.

Though there are currently many important things to pray about, while you are praying about them, please pray also for the completion of our building. We are close and hope to gain occupancy before the end of summer, but summer is waning fast!

See you Sunday,

Pastor Colin

Family Prayer Gathering 6/26

Dear Family,

Tomorrow evening, 6/26, Family Bible Church will be gathering for prayer at 8800 Big Hill Dr. Evansville, 47711 at 7 PM. We believe it is important for us to be united in prayer as we approach a new chapter of our life together in our first building. Kids are welcome. Please park in the driveway or on the west side of the street.

I hope you will join us.

Prayer and Picnic Tomorrow

Dear Family,

I know it is short notice, but the forecast for Sunday (4/24) looks nice so let’s take advantage of the beautiful weather to enjoy a picnic together after church. But first, let’s meet at the church construction site to pray and see how things are progressing. Afterward we’ll head over to Scott Township Park off of Schlensker Rd. for our picnic. Please bring your own lunch and drinks.

Hope to see you tomorrow,

Pastor Colin

MS and HS groups to see the movie “Risen” 2/28

Dear Family,

In place of our normal MS and HS group meetings this Sunday 2/28, both are planning to see the film “Risen” Sunday afternoon at Showplace Cinemas East at 4:20 PM. I have not seen the film, but have read some positive reviews, including one from PluggedIn.com. “Risen” portrays the events surrounding the resurrection of Christ from a fresh perspective, that of a Roman soldier in charge of guarding Jesus’ tomb. His search for the body of Jesus after the resurrection is historical fiction but is largely faithful to the Gospel accounts where it intersects events described there. Parents, the film is rated PG-13 so I leave your student’s participation up to your judgment and, as always, you are invited and encouraged to participate in this event with your student.

Show time is 4:20 so plan to arrive about 15 minutes early for tickets and seating.

See you Sunday,

Pastor Colin
